1. What’s a CMT? A CMT is a Certified Medication Technician, who’s certified through the state of Maryland to administer medications in a Community Base Service setting under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse Case Manager Delegating Nurse (RN, CMDN).  The CMT is authorized to administer medications to customers receiving services for Medication Management or Medication Therapy Management funded by Medicaid, Medicare, Veteran’s Insurance (VA), or Private insurance .

 

    1. What’s the difference between a CMT and CMA? A CMT and CMA are classified under Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR 10.39.01) as an Unlicensed Assistant Personnel (UAP). Both are certified through the state of Maryland. A CMA is certified Medicine Aide; as well as, a certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and Geriatric Nurse Aide (GNA), which the certified Healthcare Professional may provide personal care services and medication administration in a Long Term Care along with Community Base Service setting. A CMT isn’t required to be a CNA/GNA to perform personal care services in the community setting. In a Community Base Service setting, a CMT and CMA is supervised by a RN, CMDN which will receive continuous education training on the customers receiving services.

 

    1. How much does the training cost? The initial 20-hour training is $348.00. Expired CMTs requiring reinstatement are required by Maryland Board of Nursing to retake the 20-hour training in which the cost is $378.00. Renewal CMTs training cost is $138.00.  Employer/Company discount in which the training cost is $150.00. Employer or employer representative must contact to receive discount. We accept third party funding source.  The certification classifies as “Job readiness” which provides a professional skill to gain employment. Check out our calendar for our Holiday Specials. During our Holiday Specials, the training cost is $125.00 for new CMT certificate and $145.00 for expired CMTs requiring reinstatement.

 

    1. What’s the requirements to qualify for the training? To qualify for the training, must be at least 18 years old or older, able to pass a basic math and comprehensive reading prerequisite test given on the first day of training with 70% or better, and you cannot have abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation on your criminal record or commit to the crime(s).

 

    1. How to reserve a seat? You must complete a registration form and pay at least a minimum deposit of half (1/2) the training cost. The remaining balance is due the evening before the training at 11:55pm.

 

    1. Is the deposit or payment refundable? Not refundable. A minimum deposit of half (1/2) the training cost or the full payment is required to reserve a seat. If customer must cancel, deposit will forward to future training. Participants have up to 90 days to reschedule. Reserved seats are regulated through the state of Maryland. Deposit or full payment will credit to future trainings if customer must cancel.

 

    1. What if I’m unsuccessful with passing the prerequisite? If participant is unsuccessful with passing the prerequisite tests, the participant may reschedule within 14 days to retake the test(s). Participants have up to 90 days to reschedule.  This is regulated through Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON).

 

    1. What if I’m unsuccessful with the final exam? Customers will have 2 opportunities to have a 1-hour one-on-one session with a certified trainer. If the participant remains unsuccessful after the 2nd session, the participant has an option to retake the 20-hour training by rescheduling to take the training program and pay the program training cost.

 

    1. Does Liberated Shells provides job placement? Unfortunately, no! However, we provide a list of Licensed Providers in the state Maryland who hire for CMTs to administer medication to customers receiving funding from the state of Maryland for Medication Management or Medication Therapy Management.

 

    1. What employment opportunities are there for a CMT? One may become employed in Community Base Service settings; such as but not limited to, Assisted Living, Developmental Disabilities Administration, Schools, Daycare, VA, and Corrections. The entities can be Public and/or Independent. As a certified Healthcare Professional, one may practice as an independent Healthcare Provider. Being and independent Healthcare Provider, one will require to become a business with an EIN and meet state requirements.

 

    1. Is the training online or classroom setting? Currently, the trainings are being conducted in a classroom setting. However, the participant completes training material submitted to the participant in our online classroom management system requiring the participant to complete the material on self-paced time but in the allotted timeframe assigned.

 

    1. What’s included in the training cost? The 20 hour training, resource to the student manual/study guide, 90 day provisional certification (certificate of completion), Maryland Board of Nursing application process and fee, employment recommendations, and training/affiliate discounts.

 

    1. I’m an expired CMT. Which training should I attend? Expired CMTs are required to retake the 20 hour training if it’s 30 days period the expiration date. Expired participants are required to complete an expired CMT paper application in which we contact MBON to have the application submitted to us once we are aware of an expired CMT participating in our training program.

 

    1. Do you provide the renewal/2-year clinical review program? Yes! We provide the training. We provide the
      Clinical Review (renewal training) daily booked by the participant. The Clinical Review training cost is $138.00, which includes 4-hour training, resource to the student manual/study guide, certificate of completion, Maryland Board of Nursing application process and fee, employment recommendations, and training/affiliate discounts.

 

    1. What software is used to complete the training program? We’re utilizing Zoom Voice Communication for our Orientations, Google Classroom to access the training material, and Gmail email account.

 

  1. Is the Student Manual required for the training?  Participants are not required to have a student manual. We provide training material to become successful throughout the training program; however, we strongly suggest purchasing a student manual on our website which has valuable information and resources to effectively practice as a Certified Healthcare Professional.  We have digital or manual copies for sale.

 

  1. Do I need to print out the training material?  You may print out the material or download the material on the participant’s device.  For the final exam “State Boards”, participants are required to have a Medication Administration Record, which can be located in the online classroom and a blank copy will be provided to participants during the in-person session.
